IS FAT SHAMING REALLY WORTH IT ?

What really is more unhealthy and harmful than being fat is the fat shaming. I personally know of many people who keep justifying their criticism and harassment of overweight people about their body or eating behavior, as a means to motivate them to start eating less, exercising and in turn losing weight. And the sadder part is that the constant fat shaming dressed as concern is puts completely healthy individuals at higher risk of depression, eating disorders, reduced self-esteem and causing unnecessary mental stress.
We should understand that no positive change can come in a person from insinuating complete hatred for themselves.

We all need to love every inch that makes us and look beyond our bodies. FAT is NOT a synonym for unhealthy. Fat is beautiful, complete and a natural way of being. In fact if you really do care and want to make a difference, instead of shaming someone and making them feel bad about themselves, be kind and give a person the space to love.

Why is there so much contempt for fat people, especially fat women?
Let’s not say, “It’s not hate. It’s concern.” Fat shaming is an excuse for people, especially thin people, to exploit their thin privilege and put down a fat person who is just living their life.

What I think is worse is that this is one of those ads we would call not so harmful because it is apparently comprehendable that if you are thinner you are more attractive, and that housewives grow fat and hence boring so it is okay to have the husband suddenly notice a change.

Despite of behind-the-back giggles and ugly comments that were thrown at me, I didn’t manage to get thin. I am still fat. Or fatter, I should say.

Dear blood bonds of mine, the aunties and the uncles, your concern for me, which ranges from “You need to look after your health”, to “Who will ever want to get married to you?”, helped me learn how to not give a damn.
I hope you understand that in no way am I endorsing obesity but I definitely am speaking up against fat shaming.
